- If it’s known to be OK because others have tested it heavily and know what the controller is actually capable of then yes, it’s fairly safe. However, just like other hardware not every monitor is the same. Take things slow. It will increase heat and if you start noticing any weird flickering or odd behavior, back off. Monitors can straight up die if you push them too far. Some can’t handle anything over stock without dropping resolution.
